About Us

Chicago Costume has been dressing residents of Chicago in costumes since 1976. Our year round costume shop sells costumes for adults and kids, professional theater and film makeup, wigs, accessories, props and vintage costumes. Our family business was founded by Mary Hickey-Panayotou when she began making custom designed garments and renting costumes with local theaters.

The company has since grown to include three generations of the Hickey-Panayotou family and friends throughout the years.

Besides dressing local residents, Chicago Costume also works with a variety of organizations including local theater companies, schools, corporate businesses, neighborhood committees, charities, and more!

The company also specializes in custom costumes, masks, and accessories. Our talented staff includes skilled artists from various fields to help bring your idea to life!
