At Chicago Costume, we want you to shop with confidence! Because many of our products are seasonal, specialty, and personal-use items, we have specific return guidelines. Please review our policy before placing your order.

Halloween Season: Special Final Sale Dates

In Store: All in-store purchases made at any time are final sale. No returns or exchanges.

Online: All online orders placed October 23 – November 1 are FINAL SALE.

Due to the seasonal nature of our merchandise and the high volume of Halloween orders, purchases made during these dates are not eligible for returns or exchanges.

Please double-check sizing, product descriptions, and shipping information before ordering.

48-Hour Return Window: Eligible online returns must be requested within 48 hours of delivery.
15% Restocking Fee: Applies to approved returns.
Return Shipping: Customers are responsible for return shipping costs. Original shipping charges are non-refundable. Once authorized, returns must be shipped within 2 calendar days of receiving return approval.
Final Sale Items: Wigs, makeup, masks, prosthetics, hosiery, undergarments, vintage and pre-worn merchandise, and other designated items cannot be returned.
In-Store Purchases: All purchases made in our retail stores at any time are final sale.

Eligible Online Returns

For items that are not designated Final Sale, return requests must be submitted within 48 hours of the carrier's recorded delivery time.

To qualify for a return, merchandise must be:

Unworn, unused, and in its original condition
Complete with all original tags and packaging
Free of damage, alterations, stains, and signs of wear
Free of odors, including perfume, smoke, deodorant, and body odor
Free of makeup, pet hair, dirt, or other evidence of use

All returned merchandise is inspected before a refund is approved. Items that do not meet these requirements will not be accepted.

Approved refunds are subject to a 15% restocking fee. Original shipping charges are non-refundable, and customers are responsible for return shipping costs.

Final Sale Items — No Returns or Exchanges

For hygiene, product integrity, and the specialty nature of our merchandise, the following items are Final Sale:

Wigs & Hairpieces: All wigs and related hairpieces
Makeup & Cosmetics: All makeup, face paint, and cosmetic products
Masks & Prosthetics: Masks, prosthetics, and special effects appliances
Hosiery & Undergarments: Tights, stockings, undergarments, and similar items
Vintage & Pre-Worn: Vintage costumes, retired rentals, and merchandise marked pre-worn or pre-loved
Other Final Sale Merchandise: Items specifically marked Final Sale

How to Request a Return

Step 1: Contact Us Within 48 Hours

Contact Chicago Costume by email within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and the item you would like to return.

Step 2: Wait for Return Authorization

Our team will review your request and provide return instructions if your item is eligible.

Step 3: Send Your Approved Return

Follow the provided instructions for returning your merchandise. Returns sent without prior authorization may not be accepted.

Step 4: Return Inspection & Refund

Once received, merchandise will be inspected. Approved refunds will be issued less the 15% restocking fee. Original shipping charges are not refunded.

Received an Incorrect, Damaged, or Defective Item?

We want to make it right! If there is a problem with your order, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery so our team can assist you.

Shipping & Delivery

We work hard to process and ship orders promptly. Once your package has been transferred to the shipping carrier, delivery timing is outside our control.

Shipping delays may occur due to weather, holidays, and high-volume shipping periods, especially during Halloween.

We encourage customers shopping for a specific event to order early and allow extra time for delivery.
